Minister Hardeep S Puri inaugurates 5th ONGC Para Games
Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas & Housing & Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri inaugurated the 5th ONGC Para Games .The event took place at Thyagaraj Stadium in New Delhi in the presence of Shri Pankaj Jain, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and senior officials of Oil and Gas PSUs. Shri Pankaj Jain highlighted the essence of ONGC Para Games as a celebration of determination and resilience. The power of the human mind was emphasized over physical limitations.
Inclusive Participation and Notable Achievements
- It was conceptualized in 2017 to promote mainstreaming and inclusivity for employees with special disabilities .
- The last few years have seen a significant increase in participation and diversity.
- Many para-athletes from the event came forward to represent India at the Paralympics, bringing pride to the country.
- 371 athletes including 249 ONGC are participating in the 5th ONGC Para Games in various sports disciplines .
- Athletes from oil and gas PSUs like ONGC, IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, EIL, OIL and GAIL are competing.
- Notable achievements of Captain SK Sangwan were highlighted, including leading in the Kargil War and Everest expedition.
